What You Know About God
Have you seen the movie Bruce Almighty? It's the story of Bruce, a common guy who has an uncommon experience. He meets God and gets to take his place for a little while. The lessons he learns are invaluable. I'll let you watch the movie to find the specifics, but basically he learns that until he had experienced God, he hadn't even begun to understand God.
The great director George Lucas (the guy who made/makes the Star Wars movies) once said, "I THINK THERE IS A GOD. NO QUESTION. WHAT THAT GOD IS OR WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THAT GOD, I'M NOT SURE." Some people see God as an invisible force that holds the universe together. Others think he may have made the world, but got tired of us long ago and left. Regardless of your opinion about God, one fact remains. Until we experience God, we cannot begin to understand God.
In the spirit of George Lucas's quote, this month students were asked to complete either of these thoughts with only one sentence:
"I think there is a God. No question. What I know about that God is . . ."
OR
"I doubt there is a God. There are just too many questions. The biggest reason I doubt God is . . ."
What follows is what students are thinking about God . . .
I think there is a God. No question. What I know about that God is that he is all loving and there is nothing I can do to make God love me any more or less, and that is enough for me. Kent, age 17

He is always there for me whenever I need Him. I truly cherish my relationship with Him because it is like nothing else I have with another person. I think it would be very hard for me to give my life for some person across the country that I have never met, or some person that has not even been born yet. God's ways are remarkable, but perfect. What I know about this God, is that I love him so very much. Kellyn, age 16
I think there is a God. No question. What I know about that God is he is a loving caring God. He is there for me even when I think no one else is there for me, even when the times are the toughest. I was told that it was possible that I could never be healed and if I was it would take at least 3 months and thankfully it took only three weeks. If any of you don't believe after that has happened then something must be wrong in you life. I know that he died on the cross for me to save me from my sins, and he was brutally beaten just for me and he did that for you. I know that if you ever have any doubts all you have to do is just pray because he will always answer prayers even if it is not the answer you want. He knows what is best for you and he will answer it with what he thinks is best for you. I also know that he is awesome and powerful. That is what I think about God! anonymous
